We are currently considering applications for the June 1-11, 2008, St. Robert Southwell Creative Writing Workshop, and applications will be accepted until the participants have been chosen. Accepted applicants will receive a Southwell Scholarship which will cover room, board, and instruction, but participants will provide their own transportation to the Carmel Retreat House in Mahwah, New Jersey. Those in dire need of travel money can contact us about possible assistance.

Any young Catholics (ages 21-30) who have graduated from college or will finish their senior year by June 2008 are eligible to apply. We welcome applications from those who have majored in English and Theater, but we are also glad to consider applications from anyone with a serious interest in the literary arts who is also a serious, orthodox Catholic.

Accepted participants will be expected to do some preparatory reading (which will be provided by the Institute) before the conference begins, so the faculty and participants will have a common ground to start with. Also, this is a true "writing" workshop, and participants will be expected to write a short play during their attendance at the workshop.
